Netmix.org is the home of the open-source Netmix Theme Framework,  a standardized WordPress theme with features and functionality that will provide recording artists – from musicians and singer/songwriters to DJ/producers and record labels, a free set of tools to develop their WordPress-enabled websites and blogs.

WordPress is an open-source content management system developed and supported by the WordPress Foundation. Millions of websites run on WordPress and there are many commercial and free themes and plugins that enhance WordPress beyond its core capabilities.

The Netmix Theme Framework will feature the best of class technology developed by programmers around the world interested in supporting emerging and established artists to reduce the costs associated with a music career. As the record industry has shrunk by its peak of $38B in revenue in late 90′s to less than half that, $16B in revenue today, artists and bands are looking for low cost solutions that will help them self-publish and self-distribute. The Netmix Theme Framework is being designed to mee the needs of artists seeking to sell music, merchandise, tickets and special packages direct to fan, tag and distribute music to 3rd party services, assign ISRC codes to albums, songs and stems, publish lyrics and more.

The Netmix Theme Framework will be hosted on GitHub. An IRC channel, #netmix, has been set up for developers to communicate. There is also a forum on this site. And, we will be developing a network of Netmix meetups around the world for developers, creatives, product managers, project managers and social media marketers to meet the artists, bands, DJs, producers, record labels, managers, promoters and others they serve.
